iMovie
iMovie is a wonderful app to increase class participation, creative imagination, story building and video modeling. The app is extremely easy to use. The app opens like a movie theater sign- "Coming Soon". Student or teacher presses the + button and away you go. This app is perfect for the 1 iPad classroom as you can set up your scene or your lesson then video tape it and show to the class. In our classroom of developmentally disabled high school students, we use this app for a variety of lessons. For example, we do a weekly news report. Students are assigned to research a topic during the week. Every Thursday we tape the show. Students who can help edit, work with a paraprofessional or a teacher on Thursday afternoons. We show the video on Fridays. We also use the app for social stories, social skills, job skills and almost any activity where we want our students to see their behavior. It is a good tool to help students see their behavior and self correct when taped again. The Common Core Standards incorporates Speaking and Listening as part of the goals for students- this app is good for all grades. Add audio recordings and visual displays to presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes.
