This is a great basic assistive communication app. The app focuses on one word communication. It gives a beginner AAC user a way to communicate, needs and wants, express their understanding of basic concepts and participate in basic games and activities. This app gives the user a way to express themselves and get their voice heard.
The purpose of this app is not to create more complex communication statements. The set up does not allow for building sentence and communicating complex thoughts. The set up is much like a paper choice board with the major difference and benefit being that when the child makes a choice, it is then spoken, so it is much more like having a real voice.
The app comes with lots of boards already created, some of these pre-made boards are: colors, animals, songs, numbers, main page with most used categories, and these are only a few of the many board options available.
There is also room to create your own buttons on the pre- made boards, edit the buttons already on them and completely create your own boards. The editing and creating process is very easy. The boards are 4x3, so there are 12 choices on a board. We think this would be a great option for someone who is experimenting or just getting started with using AAC. The price is very affordable and would give you a good understanding if the user is going to be able to understand and use AAC. Be sure to check out the screenshots to see the set up of the boards.
This app is also switch accessible. In the settings you will find all the switch and scanning settings.
The producers of this app have created different apps for different settings, this particular app was created to be used in the home environment. All the vocabulary in this app is centered around the home.
**Please also note there is separate app for the male and female voices, child or teen as well as for the symbols to be real pictures or symbol stix. Be sure you are purchasing the app that you want. This particular app is for the female teen with real photos.
