Google Photos: Backup & Edit
*Update - A new feature called "Google Ask" is available as an early access, with a waitlist for signing up. It is powered through Google Genimi AI. It lets you search your photos by asking questions in natural language, like "Where did we camp last time we went to Yosemite?".
Google Photos is an amazing home for your photos that is available not only for Android users, but also for iOS devices. With Google Photos, you can organize and share your photos, create animations, collages, and movies. One of the features that we really love though is the Lens feature. With the Lens feature within the app, iOS users can have access to the great things that the Google Lens app does for Android users!
Just open the Google Photos app, choose a photo from your library, then click the Lens icon (a dotted line square with a circle in the middle). After clicking this, you will see dots move around your photo and then “Related results” and “Similar Images” will pop up at the bottom. You can then click on these to read more about the images and links that Google found. Imagine being able to take a picture of a landmark when you are traveling and get the history of it right on your phone!
Within the photos app, the Lens feature also allows you to copy text from a photo and have it translated to the language of your choice and then read aloud. This is great for people with reading disabilities as well as anyone who is traveling and cannot read the language of the place they are visiting. Can’t read the label on a bottle or package? Snap a pic, click on the text part of the image and copy the text to read or translate. We really like the Lens feature for the potential it has to help people who are blind or visually impaired as well as those with reading disabilities experience the world around them!
