Bank of America Mobile Banking

Bank of America is a fintech app that allows you to monitor and manage your accounts with Bank of America. There are many settings and features, so this will be more of a high level overview rather than a deep dive into everything you can do.

When you first install the app, you will be required to sign in with your online ID and passcode you created when registering with the bank. After this is done, you can choose to remember this information as well as configure biometric security features. You can either use facial or fingerprint recognition. This makes it much faster to sign in on subsequent visits.

The app is divided into 5 major sections. They are Accounts, Transfer, Bill Pay, Deposit Checks, and Invest. Most of these are self-explanatory.

The Accounts tab allows you to view and manage all your active accounts. You can also open new account types here. For example, you can view the balance and transaction history for each account.

The Transfer tab allows you to transfer money between your Bank of America accounts or use Zelle. You can send money to others or allow others to send you money that will be deposited into any account you choose. You can also configure Zelle with your phone number and/or email address.

The Bill Pay tab allows you to make payments to other individuals or organizations. It is divided into two tabs which are pay and activity. Pay is where you make payments, while activity shows you your payment history.

The Deposit Checks tab allows you to deposit physical checks to the bank. This is great for someone who is blind, though it is highly recommended to get sighted assistance when taking pictures. You must take pictures of the front and back of the check, specify which account the funds will be deposited into, and finally enter the amount. After a day or so, you should notice your balance has increased.

The Invest tab allows you to create an account to start investing online or schedule an appointment with an advisor.

The app menu contains many settings. You can configure mobile alerts for various events that may occur with your account such as notifications for transfers, new devices logging in with your user ID, etc. You can configure many types of security settings such as two-factor authentication. Other settings include configuring paperless statements, managing debit cards, and managing third party access to your account. For example, if you grant the Cash app access to Bank of America, it will appear here and allow you to deposit funds from Cash to B of A. If you no longer want a third party to have access, it can be revoked from here.

The last feature worth briefly discussing is Erica. Erica is a virtual assistant that can help you do many tasks with your account. You can either type your requests or speak them if you have granted the app access to the microphone on your device. Erica can do many things including giving you insights about your account, making payments, and answering other questions such as when credit card payments are due or what your routing number is. Explore and you may or may not find this feature useful.

Bank of America is a great app for keeping on top of everything from Bank of America. It works with TalkBack and VoiceOver, and all the major functions appear to be usable. This is yet another excellent tool for a blind or low vision person, as it gives you the ability to independently manage your finances.
