Summary

AngelSense Guardian is a continuous monitoring and tracking app with a wearable device designed to know where your special needs loved one is at all times. In case of individuals who tend to wander, it could be life-saving.

Short How To

The set-up for AngelSense is very straightforward, and the customer service is tremendous. Caregivers must first choose between two available wearables. One being a wearable GPS tracker and the other is a Watch GPS, both come with an embedded 4G SIM card with unlimited cellular data service provided by either AT&T or T-Mobile. There are 3 different plans available for this service and at the time of this review (April 2024) they are; a month to month option which is $64.99/month, an annual option which is equal to $44.99/mo and lastly, a monthly plan with a 1-year contract which is $49.99/mo.

Caregivers can then set up the app with various features including an Angel photo of their loved one that shows on the map and can be shared in emergencies, geofences around “safe zones” like a backyard or school, scheduled and pre-recorded messages to play on the GPS device, and various other settings. The app also allows users to set up unlimited guardians who have access to the account so that you can have teachers, family members, and others who care for your child/adult add the app to their phones and track your loved one’s whereabouts. Intelligent iAlerts can be configured to be sent straight to a caregiver’s phone or email which include arrival and departure alerts, alerts for stops at unknown places, and late arrival & departure alerts. Caregivers are able to view their loved one’s location at all times and can even access special voice features like 2-way voice which automatically calls your loved one’s device (call is automatically answered) so that you can provide support and 1-way voice which allows caregivers to check in and hear what’s going on around their loved one. Additionally, the wearable device has an SOS button that can be configured to send the caregiver a notification that their loved one is requesting a call, or it can be configured to make a direct call to a predefined number in case of an emergency like a fall for a senior or problems at school for a child.

Our reviewer had no issues setting it up, however, there is a free onboarding call to help with the set up if needed,

Reviewer Experience

Our reviewer loved using the app and wearable device with her son to know where he was at all times. The continuous monitoring allows the app to update at all times and because of this feature, it was possible to track him during the school day, on the bus and on field trips. During these travel times, safe ride monitoring can be activated which shows a users’ exact transit route on the map, step count, and even travel speeds with ETA times. Our reviewer loved this because it gave her peace of mind knowing exactly where he was. The location playback is a great feature that allows her to replay all activity within a specific location which is great for lost items as she can always go back and check where her son had been throughout the day.

The assistive speakerphone is a fantastic feature that sets AngelSense apart as it not only allows caregivers to provide their loved one with effective remote support, but it also allows users to build skills for independence. Being able to use the 2-way voice feature to direct a loved one to stop during an elopement, provide emotional support during a behavior episode, or even give medication reminders is absolutely life-changing. As is the 1-way voice feature that allows parents and caregivers to check in and gain a sense of peace knowing that their loved one is safe. Our reviewer found this feature helpful as it allowed her to check in and hear that her son was safe on the bus. While the sound quality was not perfect because the device was fastened into the pocket of his jeans she could hear that the bus driver was speaking nicely to her child. This was reassuring. This feature could also be used to check in on teens at work, seniors who live in an assisted living facility, and it’s great when used with the alerts for late arrivals. As soon as caregivers receive this alert, they can check in to make sure everything is okay.

Our reviewer enjoyed the unlimited geofences as she was able to set the perimeter of where her son should be at any given time, and see if/when he went outside of that perimeter. If he ever did leave the perimeter, she could always check his location using the various tracking tools; the most important being, “Show My Location” which shares a live location of your loved one and directions straight to them.

Benefits

Our reviewer found it helpful to know where her son was at any given time during the day. The customer service is fantastic as all AngelSense Specialists are also special needs parents. This allows the specialists to share their experience and tips which is extremely helpful! This app is greatly beneficial for many different individuals such as those who are nonverbal, have autism, memory loss, dementia, other health care needs or disabilities, and for anyone who wanders. AngelSense can be used with seniors who want to maintain their independence but might be experiencing early symptoms of dementia or memory loss, parents of children with ID/D who need to keep track of them, and adults with ID/D who might need additional support living an independent life.

Additional Comments

Presently, Angel Sense has developed a new indoor search feature which helps caregivers find their loved one even when the devices’ signal is low. They can pinpoint their loved one’s location by using the nearby Wi-Fi hotspots. Another great feature that should be noted is the ability to play an alarm on your loved one’s device in case they are lost or have eloped and hidden. The alarm can be activated remotely from any distance to make finding the individual much easier. Additionally, in cases where the individual is lost or in danger, caregivers can share their loved ones live location with anyone, granting them temporary access to the live map of their location, which can be viewable from any browser (the app doesn’t have to be downloaded) and it can even be shared with your preferred law enforcement group. Our reviewer is excited about the updates she’s seen from this company!
